African Americans pushed on through the many obstacles that kept them from careers in aviation. Today they are represented in all areas of the industry and hold professional positions at the highest ranks of organizations that include the military, commercial airlines, and NASA.

The Future
Black aviation professionals work tirelessly to interest more African Americans in aviation careers. They speak in schools and colleges, fund scholarship programs, and work in training programs designed to introduce young men and women to the field. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects significant and continuing growth in the aerospace industry through 2016.
